Major Fossil Fuel Reserves and Estimated Lifetimes
EIA updates available online on 3/15/14 and 3/27/14, but notice the countries with major reserves below.

Lifetime, years 83
As one fossil fuel becomes rare, another will be substituted. Thus, the lifetime of fossil fuels is probably about 100 years.
Shale gas and other fossil fuel dreams will not solve our energy problem, but do buy us some time.
The EIA estimated world consumption in 2013 to be about 511 quadrillion BTU per year: G20.htm
We need to stop the chatter and reduce our dependence on fossil fuels!
Crude oil yields about 5.8 million Btu per barrel.
Natural gas yields about 1,035 Btu per cuft or about 36,535.5 Btu per cubic meter.
Coal yields about 20.5 million Btu per short ton.
One metric tonne = 2204.62 lbs = 1.10231 short tons.
One cubic meter = 35.31 cubic feet.
Quad Btu = quadrillion Btu
Lifetime in years = World Quad Reserves/Quad used in 2013

Notes:
1. Using the most recent data which is not always 2013.
2. If the world total was missing for 2013, I used the total of the top 25 if it was larger.
